HOW IMPORTANT IS TO HAVE THE RIGHT FIREWALL CONFIGURATION?
Firewalls are important because they make harder to a hacker a computer intrusion. Firewalls are the next line of defense against intruders who try to exploit network ports and routers. In addition, in order to enhance the security of a large corporation, network managers tend to implement distributed firewalls as added firepower against intruders.
If you use all these types of firewall you can see from the log file if somebody tries to sneak into your network. If the hacker makes it through your network the firewall of your server can save you from more trouble. With the advances in thechnology and with these high speed services always on, end users and computers ar emore vulnerable to port scans and attacks. Some observers, however, believe that hardware based appliances such as the firewall appliances perhaps embedded in modems or routers may kick out the software firewalls because they can be better managed and provide better protection.
But, How Many Firewalls Should I Have?
It depends. If you are a home user, you should have at least the firewall of your router and the firewall of your antivirus aka as Intenet Security software. If you already own an expensive firewall that has no router capabilities, a simple antivirus may be enough to stop the malware before it gets into your network. If you own a big company, before adopting a firewall you should adopt or write a security policy.
